Mei-Mei (Chinese for little sister, pronounced "may-may")

And her China Doll big sis!

Yes, China Doll even helps hold Mei-Mei for us.  Such a sweetie!

TWO RECENT AND FUN CHINA DOLL STORIES:
1) Ginger sweet, sweet ginger!

So my wonderful husband took our family out to eat for sushi at a favorite NEW Japanese restaurant in our town.  When I say "sushi" I actually just eat the "rolls" not any of the raw fish stuff...ANYHOW...Since it was a Saturday lunch, we took the girls with us again this time (rather than try to find a sitter).

China Doll was fabulous!  Her little Mei-Mei just slept the whole mealtime, but China Doll tried out lots of fun foods!  The salad with ginger dressing is really great...and of course the peanut/avocado roll was a hit with her (so was the sweet potato roll--never had that kind at any other restaurant, it is amazing!)  She loved the sashimi (?) and the oba (Shiso leaf).  She did take a tiny, (very tiny) dab of wasabe twice during the course of the meal.  BUT...the most fun she had was stealing mounds of fresh ginger off of my plate and shoveling it into her mouth as fast as she could.  I kid you NOT.  She took piece after piece of ginger and ate it like it was running out...she never slowed or stopped til it was GONE!  I had the waitress bring me MORE, and China Doll had her eye on that right away...and her hands on it almost that fast...

I guess that is what you get when you introduce your daughter to every strong herb in your garden...a girl that eats spicy or strongly flavored foods and thinks nothing of it!

2) Little Mama ready to help!

China Doll has really transitioned quite well to being jie-jie (sp? -"big sister").  So well actually that she could almost take over my job as mama/housewife completely!  She kisses and hugs and pets her Mei-Mei and chatters ever so sweetly to her.  And loves to sit and "hold" her (with my help of course!)  And then there's the housework...She's been grabbing the broom and bringing it out to "sweep" the floors fairly regularly.  She helped me sort and prep clean cloth diapers from the dryer.  She loves to bring me clean diapers and help wipe baby Mei-Mei during diaper changes...(i do have to give some guidance there if it is a messy diaper!)  She brings me the pacifier (whether or not Mei-Mei needs it).  She adjusts the blankets and the sunshade when Mei-Mei is in the carseat carrier.  But what I think is cutest of all is when she wants to help with feeding time.  She has watched me closely while I get things ready for Mei-Mei to nurse.  And she knows just what to do (well ALMOST!).  China Doll will go grab my nursing cover and put the neck strap over her head, just like I do.  And then if she ever finds one of my nursing bra pads, she will snatch it up, look around carefully and then slowly lift her shirt up, and tuck the pad up on her BELLY BUTTON, then lower her shirt and smile at me because she thinks she's figured out what I do with them.  I think it is adorable, finally she realized that I use two of them, not just one...so she kinda stacks them in there...again on the belly button.  Ah yes...I am just about ready to retire and leave all my chores and mama duties to China Doll to take over for me while I go on a nice long vacation! I'm certain I'll come home to a wonderfully clean house and a happy, well cared for Mei-Mei.  (haha!!! That's a bit of a joke there, but I do see that China Doll is very thoughtful and loves to be helpful as much as she knows how!)

Family is great!

Remember my big contest project from the month of may...scavenger hunt thru many cloth diaper related online businesses?
Well...among other fun things, I found non-toxic nail polish at this website:  "NoSugarAddedShop.com"
http://www.nosugaraddedshop.com/store.cgi?p=Polished_Mama_Nail_Polish&s=221

Woohoo!  For about 8 years now I have not wanted to paint my nails for the ONE REASON that I knew the chemicals in most all nail polishes are toxic and not safe for regular long-term use.  But all the while, I have WANTED to be able to put fun colors on my nails again...and now I can!  I can even paint China Doll's nails safely with this stuff!!
